From Joe Little:
1. 'Scrum-Butt' or 'low-value scrum'
I think this reason is THE most important reason for the new CSP.
By 'scrum-butt' I mean all the people out there who are doing 'stupid stuff' and calling it 'scrum'. Usually they are doing parts of Scrum, but not all. Or doing scrum practices, but not with scrum values and principles.
Much less frequently, they are doing scrum ok, but they need help in adding things to scrum to get a real bang, a real improvement.
So, the underlying problem is: They are doing 'scrum' but not getting major improvement in their lives (the Team or the customers). Maybe a 20% improvement, but not 100%, 200%, 500%+.
We need the new CSP to help address this problem. In fact, IMO, the new CSP is the single biggest thing that we can do fix this problem. (Yes, there are other important partial solutions as well. For example, more coaching is key also.)
I believe addressing this problem with the new CSP is very urgent, since I think Scrum is getting a bad name from this 'crappy scrum' (people not really doing it professionally).
I think it is a crying shame that there is so much 'low-value scrum' out there. We HAVE to do more to fix this. (Yes, it will never be perfect.)
And continuing with a lot of low-value scrum could well lead to people and firms 'moving on' -- trying to find the next thing that gives them more value (or at least promises to). Leads to them not wanting to do Scrum or even 'scrum'. Again, a shame.
