Tell Her No

Group: The Zombies

Song writers: Rod Argent and Chris White (I think)

Lyrics:

And if she should tell you "come closer"

And if she tempts you with her charms

Tell her nonononono-no-no-no

Nonononono-no-no-no

No no no no no

Don't hurt me now for her love belongs to me

And if she should tell you "I love you"

And if she tempts you with her charms

Tell her nonononono-no-no-no

Nonononono-no-no-no

(don't take her love for your arms)

No no no no no

Don't hurt me now for her love belongs to me

I know she's the kind of girl

Who'd throw my love away

But I still love her so

Don't hurt me now, don't hurt me now

If she tells you "I love you"

Just remember she said that to me

Tell her nonononono-no-no-no

Nonononono-no-no-no

(don't take her love from my arms)

No no no no no

Don't leave her now for her love belongs to me

Rationale:

I was teaching a course yesterday, and the attendees were really concerned about "how do we keep the business guys and the product owner from changing the stories in the Sprint?"

So, this song came to me.

We have to be compassionate. It is hard to say no sometimes. (Like that chocolate tart last night.) My "yes" doesn't mean much if I don't say no to the next thing that comes down the pike. You might want to read The Power of a Positive No by the guy who co-wrote Getting To Yes, William Ury. See: The Power of a Positive No: How to Say No and Still Get to Yes

This is a pretty good song. Go listen to it on iTunes or something. Several artists have covered the song; maybe someone you like. Or go watch this YouTube.

'"Tell Her No" has been described as a "standard Beatles" cut, and has also been called "harmonically and melodically more complex than the best Beatles stuff, and just as catchy and emotional."' (That quote is from Wikipedia.)
